ATi Radeon HD 5450 is the ideal card for home theater PC builders, casual gamers, and consumers looking for a feature-rich. It measures to roughly about 17cm, perfect for a small chassis, with a crimson heatsink taking the bulk of the card. The HD 5450 supports VGA, DVI and surprisingly HDMI inputs, which pretty much covers everything. It has a memory bandwidth of just 12.8GB/s.

It will be the most affordable graphics card belonging to the HD 5000 series. This is also the first on AMD’s latest wave of graphics products to do away with GDDR5 memory, replacing it with older GDDR3. Naturally, the Radeon HD 5450 is not designed exclusively for 3D gaming and certain versions will support advanced features such as Eyefinity

NVIDIA OpenCL Support For Apple’s Snow Leopard OS
The new Snow Leopard operating system (OS) from Apple is the first OS to integrate NVIDIA OpenCL, a cross-platform open standard that makes it possible for developers to tap into the vast gigaflops of computing power currently in the graphics processing unit (GPU) and use them for any application.

OpenCL on the NVIDIA CUDA architecture enables applications to use the CPU and the GPU together as co-processors. NVIDIA’s integration of the CUDA architecture across its brands and segments enables it to offer Apple users a broad selection of 10 GPU models officially supported by Snow Leopard. These are: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, GeForce 9600M GT, GeForce 8600M GT, GeForce GT 120, GeForce GT 130, GeForce GTX 285, GeForce 8800 GT, GeForce 8800 GS, NVIDIA Quadro FX 4800, and Quadro FX 5600.

XFX Radeon HD 4890 XXX Edition Graphics Card
XFX introduced XFX Radeon HD 4890 XXX Edition graphics card based on ATI chipset. The Radeon HD 4890 is presently ATI’s single fastest GPU and in stock form, a HD 4890 card will be clocking in at 850MHz at the core and 3900MHz DDR at the memory. This card from XFX, however, is doing 900MHz at the core while keeping to the reference memory clock speed. It might not seem much on paper, but in our tests, it was able to increase performance by between 5 to 10%. For some benchmark with Crysis Warhead, the scores were significantly better than NVIDIA’s competing GeForce GTX 260 Core 216. Far Cry 2 was very playable with frame rates in excess of 40fps even at a resolution of 1920 x 1440 with 4x anti-aliasing enabled.

Product Specifications

  • Radeon HD 4890 GPU
  • 1GB GDDR5
  • Core: 900MHz
  • Memory: 3900MHz DDR
  • Video output: HDTV, Dual-link DVI
  • CrossFireX-enabled
